One of the challenges contemporary abolitionists face is the lack of public understanding and awareness of modern slavery. We challenged Summit participants to define modern slavery – using only one sentence. Read some of their definitions (below the picture).
“Modern slavery is the manipulation of people into service others, sexually or through labor.”
“Modern slavery is denying an individual the basic right to survive on his or her own terms.”
“Taking advantage of all types of people and exploiting them.”
“Untold stories told by the faceless human beings of the world.”
“Modern slavery is something you don’t want to do and are forced to do, without being paid.”
