"Ladies, First"- Women's History at the National Portrait Gallery

In observance of Women’s History Month, the National Portrait Gallery has selected the theme “Ladies, First” for their Face-to-Face program in the month of March. The popular Face-to-Face Portrait Talks program takes place every Thursday evening from 6:00-6:30 p.m. at the Portrait Gallery. Historians, curators, and educators host a talk each week focusing on a particular portrait in the collection. On March 26th, Erin Carlson Mast , Curator of President Lincoln’s Cottage will be speaking about the Pierre Morand painting depicting Abraham and Mary Lincoln and giving background about the life of the former first lady. Please join her on Thursday, March 26th as we continue to celebrate Women’s History Month and the Lincoln Bicentennial.

Other First Ladies’ portraits featured this month include Lady Byrd Johnson and Martha Washington. Meet at the F Street Lobby of the National Portrait Gallery between 8th and 9th Streets at Gallery Place/Chinatown to join the talk.
