For those coming to President Lincoln’s Cottage this weekend, please be aware that the annual DC Caribbean Carnival will be taking place on Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 11:00am – 8:00pm. What does this mean for you? Lots of good food and a great parade if you plan to participate! If you are simply trying to get to the Cottage on Saturday, however, it could be far from simple. Georgia Avenue from Upshur Street to Bryant Street, NW will be completely blocked off during the parade which begins at 11:00am.
Our suggestion to our visitors is to either take the metro and get off at the Georgia Ave/Petworth station (Green and Yellow lines) or, if you prefer to drive, enter the area through the east side, i.e. North Capitol Street, NW.
