The evening of February 15
Join us for an evening of art, film, and dialogue at President Lincoln’s Cottage to close the exhibit Prison Reimagined: Presidential Portrait Project.
The program will begin at 5:30pm with a self-exploration of the art of Prison Reimagined followed by a screening of the award-winning documentary The First Step at 6:30pm. After the film, there will be a discussion between filmmaker Lance Kramer and Caddell Kivett, the curator of the exhibit who will call in from the Nash Correctional Institution where he is currently incarcerated.
While living at the Cottage, Lincoln sought out unlikely allies and differing perspectives to move toward the cause of emancipation. The First Step follows Van Jones as he tries to take meaningful action in today’s divisive times to work for greater freedom in America.
