PAST EVENT: Lunch and Learn: Tracking Down Jewish Civil War Soldiers

The Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington (JHSGW) is partnering with President Lincoln’s Cottage, Ford’s Theatre, and The Lincoln Group of the District of Columbia to present a lecture on Jewish soldiers in the Civil War.

On Tuesday December 18th, head to the Lillian and Albert Small Jewish Museum for a noon lecture presented by Dr. John R. Sellers. Dr. Sellers, the Library of Congress’s Lincoln specialist for more than 30 years, will discuss his current project to identify and list all Jewish Civil War soldiers. Learn how 21st-century technology is helping fill in our understanding of Jewish participation in the country’s defining conflict. This lecture will coincide with the official launch of the JHSGW’s new online exhibition, Jewish Life in Mr. Lincoln’s City.

This program is free and open to the public. Minimum donation suggestion: $5.
