PAST EVENT: Gettysburg Address Commemoration

Join us for a recitation of Lincoln’s most enduring words:
The Gettysburg Address

You are invited to participate in a day of reflection at President Lincoln’s Cottage, a place that framed Lincoln’s development of one of the most famous speeches in American history, the Gettysburg Address.

D.C. Poet Laureate Dolores Kendrick will kick off a day of recitations with a dramatic performance of the Gettysburg Address at 10:30 am. Throughout the day, groups and individuals will unite on the Cottage veranda to recite the Gettysburg Address together each hour starting at 10:45am and ending at 2:45pm.

Memorization is not required – cards with the speech printed on it will be provided.

Times: 10:45 am*, 11:45 am, 12:45 pm, 1:45 pm, and 2:45 pm. Please note that Ms. Kendrick will perform solo at 10:30 am. All are welcome to witness her performance before taking part in the public recitation at 10:45 am.
Location:
Recitations will take place on the Cottage veranda, located on the south side of the Cottage.
